Back in 2003, one of the first books I bought online was called the Super Affiliate Handbook by Rosalind Gardner.
Don't let the unbelievable title of this guide fool you. It's one of the few books I've purchased that is worth its salt when it came to giving me the strategies, tips and know-now for make money with affiliate marketing – really!.
This is a phenomenal book that continues to top the charts as one of the most recommended guides in affiliate marketing, even now in 2010, seven years later.
This 237 page PDF guide sells for $47 on Clickbank, or if you prefer a hardcopy, Amazon will deliver it to your home. Either way you go, the guide is void of fluff and contains nothing but meaty content.
What The Handbook Delivers
In Rosalind's candid style of writing she clearly points out what it's going to take you to be successful online, she outlines the mistakes most affiliates make and the myths that mislead so many online marketers. There's no fluff or soft coating it here, Rosalind gives it to you straight.
Before I bought the guide myself, I had already been involved in affiliate marketing and had created my own affiliate sites, the problem for me was that all my hard work and enthusiasm was dying because my sales were next to nothing.
But I still loved the affiliate business model and I was determined to make it work for me. That's when I purchased the Super Affiliate Handbook.
To put it simply, what a difference a book makes
In fact I had some very profound 'ah-ha' moments, some of those were:
- I figured out how to actually monetize my site
- I changed many of the affiliate programs I was promoting – boy I had that all wrong.
- I know how to negotiate larger commissions – This tip has improved my commissions by about 30% so far. The better I get the better I get at negotiating.
- The personal tips and tasks to perform daily, weekly, monthly were simply a nice bonus.
- I could better evaluate my site's performance, collect data and make improvements
- I got better with marketing methods & how to best use them.
- I could write better content. Page 97 - BIG eye opener for me. Figuring out how to write compelling content that actually gets people to buy is one of the toughest things for an affiliate marketer.
Every bit of information on those pages is a lesson in how to increase your commissions.
It wasn't that I didn't already know most of these things, I simply wasn't implementing them correctly and I was making subtle mistakes that made big differences in my income. That's obvious now, it wasn't then.
Recent Updates to the Handbook
Due to the rapid changing environment of the web, Rosalind works hard to keep her handbook up to date and current with all the changes.
Since first buying the book several years ago, web 2.0, blogs and social media have become a huge part of internet life so Rosalind regularly updates her Super Affiliate Handbook to cover those changes.
For instance, she has since provided step-by-step instructions for how to create your own Wordpress self-hosting blog with easy to follow screen shots. You'll find out how to determine what categories to add and how to add them, find out how to create effective posts, how to add images, change themes, add links and so much more.
Rosalind has also expanded her marketing section to reflect more up to date successful marketing strategies.
In Summary…
I can genuinely say that there simply isn't another affiliate guide that's as comprehensive as this – there just isn't one! It's perfect if you're just getting started and it's an eye opener if your sales aren't at least paying the bills.
Read it from cover to cover, make a commitment to take action and most importantly, apply what you've learned
