Lesson #2

There are two steps to creating a profitable internet business. 

It starts with finding profitable business ideas then applying those ideas to an internet business model as described below.

Step # 1. Find a niche topic of interest

A niche is a profitable subset of a larger less focused market. For example, weight loss is a larger, very broad market.

Weight loss for women over 40 is a much smaller, focused market.

Step # 2. Choose an internet business model

Your internet Business model is how you will earn money on the web.

For example, you may love golf, but how do you want to make money with golf?

• What niche area of golf is your focus? 
• Do you have a golfing product to sell? 
• Do you want to promote other people's golf products or services? 
• Do you have a golf product you've created yourself to sell? 
• Do you want to teach people about a specific area of golf? 
• Do you want to write a book about golf or create a blog pertaining to golf? 

Once you settle on a niche idea, below are the internet business models that you will use to generate income. 

  Affiliate Marketing - A Personal Favorite

The affiliate marketing business model involves promoting other people's products or services for a commission of the sale.

The beauty of affiliate marketing is that you don't need a product of your own. It involves creating a niche focused website and promoting other people's products that complement that niche.

Personally I think affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to make money online.  But don't be fooled by that, while affiliate marketing may be easy to learn and do, you must know how to implement the methods and strategies that will allow you to make the most money.

 Information Marketing

This is one of my favorites, simply because it's also a way that I make money on the web. 

Information marketing is about creating and publishing valuable information that people can use and will pay money for.

Publishing information can be done through blogging, creating ebooks or article writing.  Any one of these things can be a lucrative way to generate income. 

The internet is ideal for selling both tangible and digital products, however it's no secret that information products sell extremely well on the internet, products such as 'how to' e-books, guides and courses are in very high demand.

For example, learning how to write an ebook you can profit from is an awesome way to generate income, you do it once and collect income on the product for years to come.

Creating an information blog is another opportunity that can be monetized by promoting affiliate products or services related to a blog's topic or through advertising.

Creating a blog is hard or expensive, in fact you can actually start a blog for free.  Once you've created your blog, use these lessons that I've learned to start blogging for money.  

 Create Membership Sites

Creating a membership website is similar to creating information products but it's a much more streamlined method. In fact what makes this business model so attractive is that it's a consistent form of income.

Again it does take some up front work to set up, but once set up it's on autopilot.

 Resale Rights

Many digital products such as e-books, courses and guides offer resale rights which means that you can buy the product and the resale rights to the product then resell it yourself for full profit. 

A good resale rights package gives you everything you need, the product, the sales letter and instructions on how to set up your clickbank account, etc.  They make the sales process very simple. 

 Wholesale Dropshipping

With wholesale dropshipping you buy wholesale and sell retail.  You start by finding the products you wish to sell at wholesale prices and create a website to sell them at retail prices. 

When a customer makes a purchase from your website, you buy the products from the wholesaler and then direct them on where to send the products.  

Next  your wholesale supplier will dropship the goods for you. In other words you don't have worry about keeping inventory and shipping the goods yourself, the dropshipper does that for you.

Dropshipping is popular with Internet retailers and eBay merchants because they don't have to deal with the challenges of storing product.

You also won't have to deal with packaging and mailing your products, the wholesale dropshipping company does all of that for you.

Your biggest job will be finding wholesale drop shippers that you can trust and work with.   

Service related internet Business Ideas

The following do not fall into the category of internet business models per se, but they are powerful ways to make money online if you don't want to create a website, blog or sell products on online.

Become A Virtual Assistant or Data Entry Tech

You don't have to sell or promote products to make money online.

If you have a computer and/or computer skills, there are plenty of data entry online jobs that could use your help.

In fact, if you are one of those folks that needs money now, you can begin doing data entry online jobs from your home which is a great way to get started bringing in additional income.

If you don't want to sell things online, create your own products or build a website, try offering your services. For example, there are thousands of online data entry jobs or virtual assistant jobs that need to be filled. Things like:

• Marketing Typist 
• Data Proofreader 
• Home Secretarial Work 
• Article writers 
• Article typing 

...and others

Copywriting Career

With all the websites and web businesses popping up all over the web every day, there's huge opportunity in the freelance copywriting industry. Businesses need copywriters.

This is something you can do at home on your own schedule. It doesn't require special skills outside of learning the basics of copywriting and the strategies for writing compelling copy.

There are copywriters that have learned the strategies for writing salesletters that make 6 to 7 figures a year.
